The works of Karoline Kroiß are painted autobiography. If she names one of her works „great painting“ then she talks about having to succeed a 2 m 50cm high canvas messuring 1m 60cm only herself.

She likes to play with these differences and invites the viewer to be part of it. If she says „I am too small“ or „I think I am still going to grow“ she shows herself having difficulties watching over a fence or climbing a wall in order to look down.

Other images show her with her daughter building huge towers- again a game with size but are those towers stable? In former times there exsisted a painting with the title „allways, you do not want to have kids with me“. Now they are called „only until here“ showing the kid painting the dress of her mother with thin red lines.

People shown on her works have space and freedom- but sometimes they limite themselves by squares or circles. Since the distance between artwork and reality can be fairly small the viewer finds himself in quotes of the life.
